Directions For Use

Prior to collecting a soil sample, remove any debris or mulch from the surface.

For soils around shallow rooted plants, take a sample at a depth of 10-15 cm below the surface. For soils around deep-rooted trees and shrubs, take a sample at a depth of 25-30cm.

For soils or potting mixes in Pots and Containers, take a sample at a depth of root zone.

If the collected sample is hard and lumpy, crush to make it finer for easy mixing.

MEASURING pH

Place a small soil sample (about half a teaspoon) on the testing plate provided.
Add a few drops of indicator Liquid just enough to stir into a thick paste.
Dust the white Barium powder from puffer bottle on the moist paste.
The white powder dusted on the paste, changes colour within a minute.
Compare the colour change on paste with the colour chart provided to the nearest colour and read the pH value.
Wash both plate and mixing rod thoroughly after each test to avoid cross contamination.
