Description
Hasami, a historic town in Nagasaki Prefecture, began crafting its porcelainware almost 400 years ago during the Edo period, distributing them throughout Japan as well as to Europe through the port of Nagasaki. This elegant red-painted bowl is designed with auspicious patterns such as lion, tortoise shell, and plum blossom. The lion in the centre of the plate means protection, and the tortoiseshell and plum blossom patterns symbolise longevity and resilience. It would be a great distinctive serving bowl at any dinner party.
