This compact spade is designed to be used for digging, planting and splitting out perennials from a kneeling, sitting position or a standing position when working on raised beds.
One piece fully forged blade has a sharp edge to penetrate and break up compacted ground and is the ideal size to get under and uplift bulbs and roots. As the blade and socket are forged in one piece the spade is far stronger than lower cost spades where the two are welded together.
Light in weight yet incredibly strong this spade has a traditional tapered morticed and tenoned T handle on which you can exert significant leverage without the risk of damage to the 400mm straight grain ash handle. The 110mm wide blade requires minimal room and is easy to manoeuvre in vegetable gardens and flower beds. An excellent compact spade.
